Steve and Jay’s journey began in a salon in Newtown, PA, where Steve worked as a hairstylist and Jay as a makeup artist. In the winter of 2002, a series of events inspired them to take a leap of faith, follow their dreams, and set out on their own. With little capital and even less business experience, they moved forward anyway—driven by faith, determination, and an unwavering commitment to their vision. On February 14, 2002, Blush was born. In its earliest days, Blush was a humble space, with just two employees, two hair stations, a makeup counter, and even carpeted floors! Every day brought new challenges, but each obstacle became a valuable lesson—not just in business, but in life. Through perseverance and passion, Steve and Jay learned what it takes to build a thriving business and a brand rooted in excellence. Over the past two decades, Blush has evolved and expanded, undergoing four major renovations, growing to a team of over 20 talented professionals, and launching both a signature cosmetic brand and a sister company specializing in onsite hair and makeup for weddings and special occasions. In 2018, an unexpected challenge arose when a new landlord acquired their building, giving Steve and Jay just 12 weeks to relocate Blush. Under immense pressure and with no immediate solution in sight, faith once again played a guiding role. A rare opportunity presented itself—two adjacent spaces became available inside Floral Vale. With only ten weeks to act, they orchestrated a plan to acquire, design, demo, and build an entirely new studio from the ground up. From its modest beginnings to its transformation into a high-end, luxury, full-service salon, Blush remains committed to providing the highest quality services and products while preserving the warm, inviting, and comfortable atmosphere that makes every client feel at home.
